Adoption Process
The 5 Steps of adopting a crossfield doodle:
Step 1: Apply Online
You’ve made the exciting decision to welcome a puppy into your home — what a joyful season ahead!
Because our reservation lists often fill before puppies are born, we encourage families to complete our Puppy Application as soon as they feel ready — whether that’s now or several months from now.
Submitting an application does not guarantee placement on a reservation list and does not commit you to anything. It simply begins the conversation and allows us to learn more about your family, your timeline, and what you are hoping for in a Crossfield Doodle.

Step 2: Connect & Match to a Litter
Once your application is received, our Client Manager will reach out to schedule a phone call.
During this conversation, we will:
- Answer your questions about Crossfield Doodles
- Learn more about your family and preferences
- Discuss timing, size, coat type, and color preferences
- Review current and upcoming litter availability
Our goal is to thoughtfully guide you toward the litter that best fits your family’s hopes and timeline.
Step 3: Submit Your Reservation Deposit
After your consultation call, families who wish to move forward will receive a Reservation Agreement and instructions for submitting the $500 Reservation Deposit.
The Reservation Deposit:
- Secures your placement on your chosen litter list
- Secures your opportunity to participate in the 6-week selection process in reservation order
- Grants access to our private Crossfield Families community
- Includes ongoing communication, updates, photo albums, and administrative coordination
The Reservation Deposit is separate from and in addition to the puppy purchase price.
Because communication, coordination, and administrative services begin immediately upon enrollment, the Reservation Deposit is non-refundable. Your reservation placement is confirmed once both your signed agreement and deposit are received. Deposits must be submitted within 14 days of receiving your agreement in order to secure your placement.
Please note: Reservation placements are not based on guarantees of gender or color. Selection occurs in reservation order at 6 weeks of age.
Step 4: Selection Day
When puppies reach 6 weeks of age, families are invited to participate in Selection Day.
Each litter has a reservation list in confirmed order (“Pick” order). Beginning with Pick #1, families are scheduled individually to visit and make their selection. Each subsequent family chooses from the remaining available puppies.
Prior to Selection Day, you will receive detailed emails outlining scheduling, preparation, and what to expect. We are here to guide you every step of the way.
Step 5: Welcome Home
Puppies are ready to join their families at 8 weeks of age.
We will schedule a designated home-going day for your litter (typically Friday, Saturday, or Sunday). Puppies are expected to be picked up on their assigned date unless prior arrangements have been made.
If you are unable to attend your scheduled home-going day, limited boarding may be available. Please refer to our Puppy Pricing page for details regarding boarding, delivery, or travel arrangements. All arrangements must be finalized in advance.
